Leo Butler

Leo is a natural fit for Dulahan, growing up in a household where traditional Irish music was a staple. Raised on the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makum classics , he brings a great insight and traditional perspective to the bands sound. He is equally at home on a version of an old pub favorite or creating the perfect feel for the bands original material.

Leo is close to an original member of the group, joining the band very early on. His melodic whistle and flute lines are the dominant instrumental thread throughout all 8 of Dulahan’s CD releases and run the gamut from beautiful airs to rollicking whistle, flute or pipe solos galvanizing Dulahan’s songs.

Leo’s  the Highland bagpipes add an energy to Dulahan’s sound and has allowed the band to explore songs that border on the edge of the Kilt Rock genre without abandoning their core acoustic nature. A number of the bands popular, high-energy live songs feature the dynamic interplay of Leo’s pipes and Dylans lead guitar.

A  very capable singer in his own right, Leo is a key contributor with lead vocals and the bands multi-part vocal harmonies . Leo is the proud father of two  grown children, Ian and Megan, and lives with his wife Cindy, in Moraine, Ohio.
