cd: The Blink of an Eye
track 2: We Were Overserved
Last night we had a rendezvous at Bandry Dragan’s Pub
We stayed a wee bit longer than we should
But we were makin’ headway on the problems of the world
Leaving early, would have surly been no good
The man behind the bar was like a pin boy at the bowl
He’d set ’em up and we would knock ’em down
He never spoke of caution I’m not sure we would have heard
By the time he served that seventh final roundWe were over served boys,
We were over served
Our wives believe our aching heads
Are just what we deserve
But we’re completely innocent
That barman’s got the nerve
He should be held responsible
For we were over served
At 12 o’clock the Bandry Man himself came strolling in
And saw the fine condition we were in
We told him how his hired help had clearly crossed the line
He just looked at us, shook his head and grinned
And he steered us like herd of drunken cattle down the road
‘Til each of us was safely at their door
Though most of us were upright when we finally made it home
There were one or two that made it on “all fours”
Chorus
The sun came up this morning just like every other day
For some strange reason we were not prepared
The birds were chirping louder than we’d hardly ever heard
Making all that ruckus, I don’t think they cared
That we’d suffered that injustice just a few short hours before
Inflicted on us by that evil man
The vision of him asking “How ‘bout one more for the road?!!”
Is frankly almost more than I can stand
Chorus
