cd: Live at Bainbridge
track 8: The Leprechaun
He dressed quite gaily, trousers, vest and tie
No one will be finer dressed, throughout the countryside
He went out to a party, to tip a couple pints
A couple dozen later he was calling it a night
And it was
One shot, two shots, three shots, more
Before he knew what happened, he wound up on the floor
He’ll wake up in the morning as the sun begins to rise
And be the drunken Leprechaun in someone else’s eyes
He’s the drunken Leprechaun in someone else’s eyes
He stumbled for a moment, tried to keep his feet
Ended up a crawling off to find a bed to sleep
Settled for a courtyard, gently closed his eyes
Passed out in the ivy on St Paddy’s favorite night
CHORUS
He came to in the morning, dawn began to break
His eyes were barely open and his head began to ache
His trousers were unbuttoned, tie could not be found
He was knee deep in the ivy and lying upside down
CHORUS
Regaining his composure, struggled to his feet
Brushing off the dirt, from lying in the peat
Through the haze he noticed, a dozen lookers-on
They were all a starin’ at the drunken Leprechaun
CHORUS
