Dulahan (Doo-la-hon) is a four member Irish-American band featuring powerful 3- and 4-part vocal harmony accompanied by a variety of traditional acoustic Celtic instrumentation.  With each member of the group playing multiple instruments and singing, Dulahan reenergizes the old classics and simultaneously brands their own original sound. This fresh new sound pays homage to the classic artists of the genre while subtly incorporating contemporary vocal harmony arrangements in a unique hybrid sound. Dulahan connects with fans of traditional Celtic music along with listeners new to the energy, emotion and history of this music. 

While their original music remains the strength and core of the Dulahan sound, the band loves to mix in the classic pub favorites, sea shanties, ballads and a regular dose of the rousing rebel songs that are all an integral part of the Dulahan experience. On Saturday, February 20, 2010, Dulahan will be recording our first LIVE CD in a concert setting at Bainbridge Hall, 267 Bainbridge Street (near the corner of Fifth Street and Wayne Avenue in Dayton, across from the Dublin Pub). The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and we would like to invite our friends and loyal fans to come and be a part of this LIVE CD concert!

Due to the inclement weather this week, Bainbridge Hall will also honor the discount for Dulahan fans who call the hall and reserve tickets for the show. Reserve multiple tickets in advance, receive the $2 discount, and pay for your tickets on the day of the show! Dulahan will be celebrating original Dulahan music from our first four studio releases, a host of brand new songs and of course the ever-popular pub favorites that are a part of our live show. Hope to see you there!

 

Dulahan's newest CD project is the 14 song compilation of their latest original Celtic tunes entitled MIST OF THE IRISH SKY.

The newly released album features the band's newest Celtic themed compositions that, in the Dulahan tradition of their 3 previous releases, run the gamut from fun and whimsical, to historical and powerfully moving.

The compilation contains new tunes that continue to showcase what Dulahan does best while expanding the horizons of the band’s sound.  The instrumental harmony interplay between the pipes and the whistles on the title cut MIST OF THE IRISH SKY and the powerful twin pipes on SCARS OF OUR RESISTANCE are examples of this evolving sound.  The band’s signature vocal harmonies are present throughout and are highlighted on the 2 a'capella songs: the light hearted PRATIES AND POINT and the inspirational WHAT YOU DO.

Dulahan's primary songwriter, Kyle Aughe, has again penned several tunes that draw heavily on Irish and Irish-American history for their themes.  KILMAINHAM GAOL and DOOR TO DOOR chronicle specific events in the Irish struggle for independence and THE WILD GEESE OF IRELAND and FATHER CORBY speak of the Irish legacy abroad. 

MIST OF THE IRISH SKY is a contemporary Celtic collection that proudly displays a new hybrid face of Celtic music and is one that draws from a number of genres including World, Folk, Contemporary Americana and Traditional Irish and Scottish Balladry to create a vibrant unique sound.
